Minimum Requirements:
Strong knowledge of structural steel, metal fabrication, and erection processes

Understanding of welding procedures, materials, and quality requirements

Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head of Department in planning, coordinating, and overseeing all metal construction activities.
Ensure projects are executed in line with approved designs, schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Act as Department Head in their absence, with full operational authority.
Oversee fabrication, erection, and installation works for metal structures.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to meet deadlines.
Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors.
Review engineering drawings, method statements, and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to engineering and site teams.
Ensure implementation of quality management systems and inspection plans.
Address non-conformities and drive continuous improvement in workmanship and processes.
Coordinate with QA/QC teams and external inspectors as required.
Enforce HSE policies and safe working practices across all department activities.
Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
Promote a strong safety culture within workshops and construction sites.
Assist in manpower planning, skills allocation, and productivity optimization.
Oversee use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and fabrication facilities.
Support procurement planning for materials and subcontracted services.
Monitor departmental costs and assist in budget control.
Review material usage, wastage, and productivity reports.
Support estimation and tendering activities with technical input when required.
Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal departments.
Support progress meetings and technical discussions with stakeholders.
Ensure timely communication of risks, changes, and project updates.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate engineers, supervisors, and foremen.
Identify training needs and support skills development within the department.
Contribute to performance reviews and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Prepare and review departmental reports, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Drive improvements in productivity, quality, safety, and delivery processes.
Support implementation of new technologies, systems, or best practices.
