Job summary:

Serves as the first point of contact at the assigned school for staff, students, and parents dealing with inquiries and directing them appropriately. Handles daily work pressures, requiring constant concentration on a high volume of clerical work, which must be completed within a limited period. Must be able to successfully perform main duties and responsibilities in an environment with constant interruptions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform general office duties including answering multi-line phones directing calls and taking messages as appropriate, greeting the public, typing, copying, filing, sorting, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Support building leadership with administrative support and guidance.

  • Maintain accurate student attendance records including entering daily attendance for hundreds of students; checked students in and out of the building; handled and tracked calls and notes from parents.

  • Lead all attendance issues and related database requirements for absence, illness, and early departure, including all contact with home, and following up on and reporting staff attendance-taking.

  • Greet parents, students, and staff in the main office and direct as appropriate providing guest badges, bus passes, etc.

  • Takes messages and, where directed, schedules meetings for parents and staff. Directs queries appropriately within the wider leadership to prevent all issues from being passed to the Secondary Principal.

  • Supervise students in the main office area. Refer students to teachers or administration as necessary.

  • Format and complete special projects as assigned by the Secondary Principal.

  • Supporting the school, the administrators, and EAS initiatives.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma and at least one-year related experience in typing, general clerical and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Prior successful experience working in a school setting is strongly preferred;

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with children and the public.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds;

  • Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; contributing to building a positive team spirit;

  • Refrains from negative talk and gossip; is friendly and personable;

  • Ability to work rapidly and accurately;

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions;

  • Is on time, punctual to meetings, knows how to manage a schedule, and is organized.

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in Azerbaijani and close to fluently in English;

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, or members of the community;

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;

  • Good Russian skills are preferred.

Computer Skills

  • General knowledge of computer usage (Mac OS operating system is preferred) and ability to use database software, internet software, e-mail, and word processing software;

  • Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: Google Suite, MS Office;

  • Ability to type accurately and proficiently.

Reports To: Primary Principal The European Azerbaijan School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated Primary Years Visual Art Teacher, who is committed to developing students to their full potential in a supportive, caring environment by integrating Art into the IB PYP units. Applicants must have a teaching degree that is recognized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education with at least 2 years of teaching experience. Fluent English (B2, C1 levels) speaking and writing skills are a must, as all core subjects are taught in English.  General Description of Position:  Visual Arts Teacher must demonstrate knowledge and experience in a wide variety of art materials and techniques, as well as demonstrate the ability to teach young learners through developmentally appropriate art making. Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for sequential lesson planning based on the EAS IB PYP Curriculum, classroom preparation for art activities, teaching, and holding students to established standards.  Primary Responsibilities: Prepare and teach sequential skill-building lesson plans based on the EAS Curriculum; Define objectives for all lessons and communicate objectives to students. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the students' varying needs, interests, and developmental levels; Prepare art materials and classrooms for Art-making activities; Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible; Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to students, and demonstrate proper handling of art materials, tools, and equipment, including cleanup; Help students observe, discuss, and write about their art; Promote positive character development in all students; Organize and promote interest in the Visual Arts at the school site level; Help plan and set up all aspects of art shows (as applicable); Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associate Teacher (Primary)

General Description of Position: Pay close attention to student's personal needs and implement appropriate individual programs, including issues such as social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare; Guide and assist students by ensuring their safety and learning environment; Establish a good relationship with students by demonstrating exemplary behavior, being aware of their individual needs, and meeting those needs accordingly; Encourage students to interact with others and be involved in teacher-led activities; Encourage students to act independently when needed. Prepare the classroom for the lesson, help clean the classroom after class, and demonstrate students' work; Be aware of the student's problem/development/achievements and inform the teacher about it in an agreed manner; Carry out student registration as required; Assist the teacher in monitoring student behavior and providing information on difficulties as needed; Obtain/provide information from a parent/caregiver in accordance with the instructions; Provide clerical/administrative work, e.g., copying, writing, filling out forms and blanks, etc. Help students understand the instructions; Assist students according to local and national learning strategies (e.g., literacy, numeracy, early childhood) under the guidance of a teacher; Help students use ICT if needed; Develop and manage equipment/resources as instructed by the teacher, assisting students in their use.
