As a Chief accountant, you’ll play a vital role in leading our financial accounting function, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and IFRS, and supporting informed decision-making across the organization. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial backbone of Azerbaijan’s capital market infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial controls;

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in full compliance with local legislation and IFRS standards;

  • Prepare and file statutory tax reports and declarations, ensuring full compliance with local tax laws and deadlines;

  • Analyze financial performance, monitor budget variances, and provide actionable insights to the management team;

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present findings to senior leadership;

  • Supervise and guide accounting team, promoting adherence to best practices and continuous professional development;

  • Support budget planning and forecasting activities by delivering accurate and timely financial data;

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and addressing audit queries;

  • Review and enhance internal accounting procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • A valid PMS 2 certificate (Mandatory).

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.

  • Deep proficiency in IFRS and local tax regulations.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., 1C, SAP, or other ERP systems).

  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and accuracy.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

About the Role: The Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) is seeking a highly skilled Trading Technology Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on enhancing trading platforms and systems, stock market infrastructure, support developing new financial instruments, and improving trading processes. The successful candidate will operate in a fast-paced environment, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including regulators, market participants, technology vendors, and internal departments, to capture business needs, conduct detailed analysis, and translate them into technological solutions. The position also entails designing and managing features of exchange-related financial instruments, contributing to the continuous advancement of BSE’s trading platforms and market capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with regulators, market participants, technology vendors, and internal teams to gather and analyze business requirements. Translate business needs into clear, practical technical solutions and enhancements for trading platforms and financial instruments. Analyze trading platforms and systems, suggest improvements and optimizations, and contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance platform efficiency and functionality. Communicate with technology vendors and prepare change requests for platform enhancements. Support the development of new financial instruments in line with market demand. Prepare functionality testing scenarios and collaborate with QA teams. Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience in capital markets, with a strong understanding of trading systems and platforms. (could be BSE’s platform, Bloomberg, MT4, Reuters) Understanding of the full trade cycle, including pre-trade and post-trade processes. Understanding of fixed-income securities, equities, and derivatives. Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point. Good command of English; proficiency in Russian is an advantage. CFA Level 1 certification is a plus.
