Specialist – Strategy and Investments

Baku Steel Company is looking for an experienced and strategic leader to head the Strategy and Investments function. The role is responsible for developing the corporate strategy, overseeing investment planning, driving the implementation of strategic initiatives, and ensuring effective performance monitoring. The position plays a key role in enabling data-driven, well-informed decisions aligned with the company’s long-term goals. Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning, Initiative Implementation & Monitoring Lead the development and periodic updates of BSC’s corporate strategy. Ensure structured and timely implementation of approved strategic initiatives. Monitor progress and performance of initiatives, identifying and reporting deviations. Conduct strategic assessments of markets, competitors, technologies, and improvement opportunities. Investment Planning & Evaluation Oversee the preparation and evaluation of investment proposals. Guide feasibility studies and ensure quality and accuracy before submission. Collaborate with financial institutions, suppliers, and technical partners to gather inputs for feasibility analyses and financing options. Monitor the performance of major approved investments. Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with Finance, Commercial, Production, Procurement, and other functions to validate insights and analyses. Ensure that strategic priorities are aligned with budgeting and annual planning cycles. Reporting & Governance Maintain structured documentation, templates, and workflows for strategic processes. Prepare regular reports on strategic initiatives, progress, and investment performance for senior management.

Role Purpose The Lead Specialist will support the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of strategic initiatives. The role is responsible for performing analysis and feasibility assessments for investment proposals and ensuring structured coordination across the company. Key Responsibilities Strategic Initiative Support & Monitoring Track progress of assigned strategic initiatives. Identify risks, bottlenecks, and propose corrective measures. Prepare initiative status dashboards and summaries. Strategic Analysis Conduct market and internal performance analysis. Identify operational and commercial improvement opportunities. Prepare analytical notes and presentations. Investment Evaluation Develop financial models and feasibility assessments. Conduct IRR, NPV, and payback calculations and comparisons. Coordinate with financial institutions, suppliers, and external partners to collect data relevant to feasibility and cost assessments. Coordination & Follow-Up Gather inputs from departments for strategy and investment documents. Track status of ongoing investment assessments. Prepare summary dashboards and reports for management. Documentation Maintain structured archives, templates, and analysis files. Ensure consistency and quality across analytical work.
