Senior reporting and budgeting specialist (Construction)

About the Role

Prime Core Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Reporting and Budgeting Specialist with strong expertise in construction accounting, project cost control, and financial reporting. The candidate will also play an important role in supporting and guiding junior finance staff and participating in department process improvements. This position offers a clear career development path to Finance Manager within 1–2 years, depending on performance and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate project-level financial records: job costing, WIP, retention, progress payments, subcontractor invoices

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports; conduct variance and cost analyses

• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows

• Review BOQs, interim payment certificates, and change orders for financial correctness

• Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Project Managers to ensure accurate cost allocation

• Ensure VAT/tax compliance; support internal and external audits

• Operate within construction ERP systems (COINS, SAP, Oracle, Primavera, etc.)

• Provide support, coordination, and basic supervision of junior finance team members

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

• 4–6 years of experience in finance/accounting, including at least 3 years in the construction industry (mandatory)

• Deep understanding of construction accounting practices

• Strong Excel and ERP system proficiency

• Demonstrated ability to work with and guide junior staff; strong teamwork and leadership mindset

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience with large-scale construction or infrastructure projects

• Knowledge of IFRS 15 (construction contracts revenue recognition)

• ACCA or other certifications are considered an advantage
