A vacancy has arisen externally for a residential Operations Manager position as part of the Onshore Business Unit.

Key details about the role and the candidate

  • The Operations Manager will report directly to the General Director, overseeing all operations to ensure successful contract execution, and liaising with various departments for smooth operational management.

  • We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in drilling operations, and a commitment to operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in oil field management, including supervising diverse teams and managing high-value projects in a safety-critical environment.

You and the role

  • Reporting to the General Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for managing the personnel directly assigned to the Client’s contract, based at Client’s offices and on Client’s offshore installations as well as at Turan Drilling and Engineering Base.  Closely liaises with Support Departments within Turan Drilling and Engineering and co-ordinates activities to ensure delivery of contract obligations.

Primary responsibilities

  • Assures that all work is carried out in accordance with Management Systems Procedures.

  • Takes all necessary actions for the success of the execution of the contract.

  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements.

  • Communicates with Senior Rig Manager, Rig Managers and Client Representatives on a regular basis.

  • Manages operations in a manner that promotes teamwork, motivates personnel, efficiently utilises human and technical resources and achieves business objectives.

  • Establishes and maintains high standards of technical and operational preparation, operations, co-ordination, health and safety and personnel development.

  • Represents Turan Drilling and Engineering to Customers, the IADC and other industry bodies.

  • Implements Group and Turan Drilling and Engineering Management System Policies and Procedures within the Department.

  • Agrees financial objectives for Operations with Senior Management.

  • Co-ordinates and submits annual operating budgets and resource requirements.

  • Promotes customer awareness of Turan Drilling and Engineering, establishes and maintains a close working relationship between Customer and Turan Drilling and Engineering.

  • Agrees and implements programs with assistance of Senior Rig Manager, Rig Managers and Departmental Heads to ensure Client’s installations, which Turan Drilling and Engineering operate are maintained and manned at a level that provides Customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure that standards and programs are effectively communicated to all personnel.

  • Ensures the maintenance of economic levels of spares inventory for the maintenance of installations and approves requisitions for the replacement of stocks.

  • Maintains health, safety and environmental standards of Group, Turan Drilling and Engineering and Clients.

  • Manages the execution of operational contracts.

  • Manages the execution of operational subcontracts.

  • Promotes good Client relations both on a professional and social level.

Experience

  • Minimum of 20 years' Oil Field experience.

  • Experience of both manual and 5th generation cyber rigs

  • Proven experience (office and field based) advising or working at a supervisory level in drilling operations.  E.g. Drilling Engineer, DSV

  • Understanding of drilling and completion design / implementation / equipment including that provided by service companies.  E.g. Wireline, logging, coiled tubing, fluids, casing, cementing, directional drilling and MWD/LWD etc.

  • Experience in working with and supervising diverse teams of people in a safety critical environment

Behaviour and Skills

  • Proven Safety Leadership Skills.

  • Proven ability to manage Clients needs and expectations.

  • Proven ability to manage and deliver against budget.

  • Valid IWCF Well Control Level 4.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Systems and processes knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in an oilfield related subject or valid experience-based training and qualifications.

  • Rig site experience in a position managing teams for a drilling contractor, operator or service company.

  • IWCF Level 4 well control certificate.

  • Formal Management Qualification preferable.

  • Well Engineering/Engineering degree preferable.
